Now a Cold

Guess what you guys, I'm sick again....

This is stupid. I had the flu three weeks ago. Now I have a cold.

Since Christmas I have had at least one infection a month if not two. Why on earth is this happening??

I overall have been doing so well since coming back from the Hansa Center, but I cannot stay well. My Lyme disease symptoms overall are better, but my immune system cannot stop a cold.

This time around with whatever bug this is, my Lyme symptoms are flaring. My skin is burning, abdomen is in pain, nauseas, my leg is locked up, and so on and on and on...

Situation=Frustrated

The Time is Coming

Well I think its time for an update post.

I got back to the Hansa Center for visit 2 in less than a month. I stop all of the remedies I started in January in just a few days, March 14.
Before I go back I will have to repeat the initial bloodwork and I will also repeat my hair heavy metals test. I am hoping to see high levels of metal dumping out into my hair because its leaving from my body(finally!!).

I had my last ND appt. in December. It has been so nice to get off all of the supplements they had me taking!  Most of these did very little for me, I had to add in herbs to treat my infections. Since changing to the Hansa Center from the ND I have noticed an enormous difference in how I feel.
The ND used SCIO biofeedback that is capable of testing supplements with my body to see what kind of reaction. The HC uses BioResonance Scanning, which is a form of muscle testing, that also checks my body's reaction to the remedies.

The ND had a very similar technology, just not the same resources and know how behind it. Its amazing how much the doctor themselves will affect the patients outcome just by the supplements and treatment methods they prefer. My ND had many of the same supplements and even some of the same training, but its taken the strong detoxing and specific remedies to make a difference in my health.

Anyway, I think I have proved my point that I really do love how the doctors at Hansa treat their patients. It saddens me when I see people like Parker Goertzen fail...
with LLMD's you typically pick your favorite most convenient doctor. They will all try the same group of antibiotics, IV's, and herbs. The HC is different, they have about 3k remedies to pick from, not 100-200 the better LLMD's have.

------Back to me------

My current symptoms are Insomnia, fatigue, exercise intolerance, and no concentration.
Overall I don't have the sick feeling I used to have, the sauna keeps my muscles fairly loose, I have had very little dizziness or pain. At this point I just need to get my resistant symptoms knocked out. This will hopefully be finished up after the next visit.

I have managed two long and strenuous school fieldtrips in the last month and the flu since coming back from my last HC visit. Beforehand all of this would have knocked me down significantly.
All that has happened since these things is extra fatigue, its a problem but I am not stuck in bed!

Now I just need to get back to my juices and smoothies....I have ingested more junk food in the last month than I care to admit to! They sure do make a difference.

Plastics??

A few things have been on my mind lately. One of which is why do some Lyme disease patients, or even chronically ill people in general, have such a hard time getting better.
Most people who have educated themselves in natural treatment of chronic disease know that mold and heavy metals are the most common and most treated for toxins. Many people with Lyme disease have found mold in their homes and attribute mycotoxins to their inability to heal.
Mold detoxification has become an integral part of treating some lyme disease patients. Removing the mycotoxins which act as blocks to the immune system the body can begin to heal.

Mercury, copper, lead, and arsenic are other common pollutants that hinder the bodies of those with chronic disease. It's not uncommon for Lyme patients to have had fheir fillings removed and undergone some kind of chelation therapy. Mercury and lead for example are known nerve irritants and can block the lymph system.

Mold and metals both have known tests and treatments, both are reversible with time. What else, what other toxins are responsible for keeping those who are chronically ill sick?? Plastics(Pthaletes) are sure to be one. Inorganic compounds that bacteria in the environment cannot even break down, that for sure has to cause a problem for the human body. Pthaletes have been found to disrupt hormones and other systems in the body, this for sure could bring down someone's immunity significantly.

Plastic toxicity isn't talked about often and I only found one test for Pthaletes. No drug or natural treatments, just diet and lifestyle recommendations. Infrared red sauna was also mentioned as beneficial for detoxifying plastics.

This is just a thought. We use plastics for everything, the keys on my keyboard right now included.
What else could be a reason for someone to stay sick, emotions, relationships, bad habits??

Looking Forward

During the last week a good bit has been going on in my life, good and bad.
Last weekend I had the flu, I'm still trying to regain my energy.
A few days ago I spoke to Dr.Jowdy for my one month update. He is very pleased with my progress.

At the moment I am trying to keep up with using the sauna. When I was on my trip I could not use it, several days in the last week I've had something come up and not had the time to get in...
So I am trying to get back on track with that, originally Dr.J recommend 3X a week. I would say overall I do closer to 5 days a week.
Today was the first time to use it since the weekend. I set it to 150F, got in at 130F, stayed in almost 40 minutes and when I got out it was 140F. So I did longer than usual and hotter than usual, it made a difference. I was not expecting anything much but I truly and honestly felt less fatigued after getting out.
Of course half an hour at over 100 degrees I was kinda gross, I went straight to the showers after that!!

After my shower I decided I would continue my roll and make some juice and a smoothie. I needed rehydrating for sure. I made a larger juice and a larger smoothie than normal, along with 5 caps of Betaine HCL.

I started the HCL last week, still tweaking the dose. I did a stomach acid test and found my stomach is not producing acid well, this leads to me not absorbing food as well.
All in all and the added acid leaves me with less stomach discomfort after eating. When I eat it always feels like a rock is stuck in my stomach for hours. Even water does this.
I haven't tried more than 6 capsules yet because I'm a little fearful...I've heard it's very painful if you take to much acid. I know I still need to reach a higher dose. I drank that smoothie an hour ago and I still feel it loud and clear.

I mentioned already I spoke to my doctor. Between visits he told me to shoot him an email update with any questions and what's going on.
The summary of how I'm doing is this-fatigue, insomnia, and concentration are still resistant. They are holding on strong. I am not sleeping as well as I did when I was staying at the clinic. That sleep only lasted a few days after leaving. Fatigue has been much better than before on average.

His response was its probably heavy metals I'm still detoxing. He recommended a product called Chelex to help detoxify those.

(Note this is a fraction of what I said and how he responded)

I am excited to go back to the HC, I am doing much better than before. I am not hasitling over trying to find a new herb or treatment to try on myself. I am truly healthier than I was pre-Hansa treatment.
But I still have work to do. My sleep is not consistent, my fatigue is holding on, and my concentration is all over the place. Plus I still can't exercise(which I forgot to mention to Dr.J...)

I don't know how many visits it will take. I hope it only takes this one more in a month but who knows. I am trying to stay focused on my life and my progress more so how much longer I will have to be visiting doctors and taking pills and remedies.

I Would Like to Ask for Something

As you all have seen I follow many blogs, at some point I think I've mentioned most of them. A few months ago I posted about one blog in particular, Ticks and Trust. This blog is written by a Canadian mom who also battles Lyme disease and several co-infections. Several years ago her son Parker was also bitten. Shannon has since been able to better than when she had a full blown set of infections constantly. Parker however has not been able to become assymptomatic. He reached remission once, but the pain never fully went away. Now he is doing worse and nothing seems to be making him well.

The faith and confidance in of this family has been challenged so hard. I think many of the people who read my blog understand what it's like to he chronically ill because most of them probably are. But this family, nearly all of them have been Lyme positive at some point. Nearly all of them have been through Lyme treatment. They have all had to deal with trying to find a doctor to treat them, which has turned into multiple doctors and multiple treatments. Shannon's oldest and youngest are doing well how, but her middle child Parker only knows suffering at this point.

I would like to ask for prayers for the Goertzen family. I know what it's like to be the sick kid whose just held back by everything, thinking about other kids like Parker who are much worse than I ever was just makes my heart break.
I wish I had some other way to help them in addition to our prayers, but this time all I have to offer is my own hope in God that one day he will he ok. Parker will be a new person and when he comes out of this darkness he lives under he will be able to look back and find the positive things that happened in his long journey.
I am personally praying he will never lose faith that he will be okay and all of this happens for a reason, it's not God trying to torture him in any way.

Here is a link to the most recent post.

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.

Kinda Paranoid and also Kinda the Flu...

So I came home with a something from my trip last week...and it may be the flu.
Saturday I was very sick, sweating, chills, fever, nausea, didn't feel like eating, coughing, sounds about like the flu. I took a bunch of things, Sunday was better, and Monday I was almost back to normal. Whatever I took helped for sure.

Now I just have this lingering fatigue and cough. As usual with this fatigue I get this depression, that leaves me thinking.
Whenever I get depressed it's like I'm stuck in my head. I'm too tired to do something to keep myself distracted. But of course I'm no near tired enough to actually take a nap. I've got energy, I'm stuck in my head, I don't feel like actually doing anything....recipe for disaster.

I know this time it was just a little bug, may not have even been the flu. I only picked the flu because everyone in my family has had it recently, must be my turn I guess.
But what about next time, I have tried so hard to get over this Lyme disease and all of its co infections, what if I had to start back from ground zero. Full symptoms and no doctor, what if I had to do that again. Can I even do that again? Physically what would happen? My brain is already shot. I already know it will probably be the last of my organs to get back to what it should be doing(like right now I should be asleep, but this is the best thinking I've done all day). It takes nerves up to 8 years to heal, if I can get may brain in the repair stage before the year is over it would still be 2024 before my brain and the rest of my nervous system is healed.

In the accident that triggered this illness I stretched the nerve in my left arm, lost feeling in all my fingers. It's five years later and feeling is back significantly but overall dulled. That's just one nerve that wasn't broken, I know the Lyme has impeded healing but still.

I mean common sense tells me my brain is fine it's just neurotoxins. Once my body isn't infected and toxic it will work just like it should. The thing is I just don't know.

My muscles and my stomach have taken a beating. Now that I am doing better I've been looking back on what's changed. My muscles have changed. Very much shrunken and I can't exercise.

Yesterday I took a home stomach acid test dr.Jowdy told me to do. I had to drink a water/baking soda solution right after getting up, if it took longer than five minutes to belch the stomach isn't producing a significant amount of acid. I never belched or burped. So as per his instructions I ordered some betaine hcl to take with meals. This would explain why I don't feel like eating, food doesn't leave my stomach, I feel it all day long. It could also explain why I did so well last week on all of the junk food, it's already broken down into nothing.
Anyway, Amazon said my HCL will be here by 8pm tomorrow. I'll report back with results.

Now that I got a little sidetracked, here's why I went from talking about my muscles to my stomach. I think that maybe because I'm always trying to digest food(I don't cycle through full/empty between meals) and not actually getting the nutrients, my muscles don't have the nutrients they need to build themselves. Trying the HCL will be interesting, maybe this will be affected.

All of this has just been running through my mind. Like what if I don't actually get well. What if all of these remedies are just a band aid and making me feel better for the time being. What if I do get better for a while then it all comes back and I don't have access to the Hansa Center or any natural Doctor that I like? I would have to live through the herxing again and not knowing if this antibiotic was going to do anything, just hoping that this one or this combo was the one to help me get better(again). What if after all this I get something else and have to learn an all new disease and find a new doctor? Just over and over I keep thinking about these what if questions.

I know I could do it again. I haven't even finished this time around but I have faith that I will, but my mind keeps my head spinning.

I guess after all this there will be a lot to remember, good and bad.

Therapies Explained:Part Two

A month ago I wrote an explanation to some of the therapies they used on me at the Hansa Center. The first part of this post included the more major therapies like the infrared sauna and the ST8. This post will discuss the more minor (yet still vital) therapies.

PowerPlate-The powerplate is a vibrating device used for exercise. The high vibrations stimulate the muscles and increase circulation throughout the body. It is great for exercise purposes, the vibration is a workout. The short time I would have to do this was more so for opening up the cold stagnant muscle tissue, not for building muscle.
This was one of the lower priority treatments, I did it every other day for five minutes.

Bemer-This is specifically used for circulation and oxygenation. It is used to speed healing in the cells. While laying on the mat they would have us drink an electrolyte drink for hydration.
I'll be honest, I do not know much about this one. We all typically do it twice a day here for 8 minutes.
Here is the website for more info

Q-Laser-The Q-laser is used to stimulate healing and reduce inflammation. I would use this daily and on a different place each treatment (I.e heart, liver, gallbladder, kidney, ears). The laser can penetrate deep in the skin to reduce the inflammation and speed the healing process. Those of us Lyme patients have severly stressed out detox organs, so this device is good for providing an extra boost.
Here is the website for Q-Laser(not the same as Q switching laser)

I know this post isn't as exciting as the original, that's why it took a month to write it. I would like to stress that all of the treatments are important and play a role with eachother by boosting a specific part of the body.

Enjoy! Next on my to-do list is explaining my supplements.
